As a little girl, I simply loved fairytales that tell of princesses, in fact, I still do! Take the story of ‘The Princess and the Pea,’ for example, which tells of a young woman whose royal identity is established by a test of her physical sensitivity, and how about ‘Sleeping Beauty?’ Practically every little girl dreams of being a princess, so if you’re planning a room for your little girl, why not get her a bed fit for a princess?
If you can afford to blow the budget, I’d say go for a custom-made bed. These days, it’s possible to get a castle-themed loft bed installed, and you can complete the look in the little princess’ bedroom with unique accessories and children’s furniture, such as closets and storage space. You can even employ talented artists to decorate the furniture with floral details, or paint a mural on the walls.
Some custom princess beds that I’ve seen on the Internet actually look like enchanting mini palaces, and they come with towers, mini spiral staircases, curved slides and so much more! A princess’ dream come true!
If you’re on a budget, however, the smarter choice would be to DIY your little princess’ bedroom. Any old bed can be turned into a princess-styled bed with a coat of paint or some creativity! And who says only single beds can become princess beds? You shouldn’t turn your nose up at queen-sized or even bunk beds.
You can complete the your princess bed’s look with matching pink bed sheets with floral detailing, some pretty throw cushions and soft toys in the shape of creatures of the forest. Of course, the walls of the bedroom should be painted a soft pastel shade, and perhaps one of the walls can be turned into a feature wall, with a DIY mural. Think flowers, butterflies and fairies!
I think the best part about the DIY bedroom, as opposed to the custom-made bedroom, is the fact that it can adapt to the child, as she grows. But, of course, no matter how old or tall she gets, she’ll always be your little princess!
